Looking for a deeper medical evaluation after regression or complex developmental concerns?

Some children with autism, developmental differences, or regression may benefit from a comprehensive medical review.

At ASAD CLINIC, we help families consider the appropriate testing based on their child's profile. This may include review of prior records, developmental history, symptoms, nutrition, sleep, gastrointestinal concerns, seizures, immune concerns, metabolic issues, genetic testing, and other clinically relevant factors.

Not every child needs extensive testing, and not every test is appropriate, validated, or covered by insurance. Our goal is to help families consider a thoughtful, and thorough, medically guided approach.

When testing is appropriate, results may help guide next steps, treatment discussions, therapy planning, or referrals. Some results may take weeks or months to return.

Based on your child’s history, age, symptoms, risk profile, and prior evaluations, we work with families to develop a personalized therapy and biomedical treatment plan.

If this sounds relevant to your child, email us and we will do our best to help you understand whether our clinic may be a good fit!

— Dr. Safi & the ASAD CLINIC Team

Who we help

ASAD CLINIC may be a good fit for families seeking help with autism, developmental regression, ADHD, tics, headaches, developmental delay, complex behavior, or unexplained neurologic/developmental symptoms.

---

We also help children whose families feel that prior evaluations did not fully answer their questions.

Our Approach

Compassionate

We listen carefully and take your child’s story seriously.

Personalized

We avoid one-size-fits-all recommendations and consider your child’s unique history, symptoms, and family goals.

Cutting-Edge, but Careful

We consider emerging research thoughtfully while remaining medically responsible and transparent about uncertainty.

Purpose

We apply the latest medical evidence and research backed by a decade of clinical experience to help your child develop.

---

Our goal is to help parents/families/caregivers leave with a clearer understanding of what has been considered, what is uncertain, what may be worth testing, and what next steps can be implemented at home, with therapists, schools, and other physicians.

What to Expect: Evaluation & Testing Timeline

A deeper evaluation takes time. We want families to understand the process before they schedule.

1. Email Us First

Day 0

Send us a brief summary of your child’s concerns, diagnoses, regression history, prior testing, and what you are hoping to better understand. We will reply with next steps, availability, pricing, and whether ASAD Clinic may be a good fit.

2. Send Prior Records

Before the visit

If a visit is scheduled, we may ask for prior neurology notes, developmental evaluations, lab results, genetic testing, imaging, therapy notes, school evaluations, and medication history. This helps us avoid repeating work that has already been done.

3. Initial Evaluation

Visit day

During the visit, we review your child’s story, symptoms, development, prior diagnoses, therapies, medications, sleep, nutrition, gastrointestinal concerns, neurologic symptoms, and family goals. The goal is not to order every possible test. The goal is to understand what may be medically relevant.

4. Testing Discussion

Visit day

When clinically appropriate, we may discuss testing in areas such as genetics, nutrition, metabolism, immune function, gastrointestinal health, inflammation, or other medical contributors. Not every child needs extensive testing. Some tests may not be appropriate, validated, useful, or covered by insurance.

5. Tests Are Ordered

After the visit

If testing is recommended, our team will explain what is being ordered, where labs may be drawn, what may require a home kit, and what costs or insurance issues may apply. Some tests are simple blood or urine tests. Others may take more planning.

6. Results Return Over Time

Usually 6-10 weeks

Different results come back at different times. Some routine labs may return quickly. Genetic, metabolic, immune, or specialty testing may take several weeks or longer. We review results in the context of your child’s history. A lab result alone does not define your child.

7. Results Review & Personalized Plan

Follow-Up

Once results are available, we discuss what they may mean, what remains uncertain, and what next steps may be reasonable. This may include treatment discussions, referrals, therapy coordination, school-related recommendations, or additional testing only if needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who are we?
ASAD CLINIC was founded by Dr. Safi, a pediatric neurologist with a passion for helping children with autism, developmental concerns, regression, and special needs. Dr. Safi brings decades of biomedical science education, medical training, and clinical experience to help families better understand their child’s development, symptoms, and possible next steps. Our goal is not to offer a one-size-fits-all plan. Our goal is to carefully review your child’s story and help build a thoughtful, medically guided path forward.
What kinds of children does ASAD CLINIC help?
ASAD CLINIC may be a good fit for families seeking a deeper medical evaluation for autism, developmental regression, ADHD, seizures, tics, behavioral changes, developmental delay, or complex neurologic and developmental symptoms. We are especially focused on children whose families feel that prior evaluations did not fully answer their questions.
Who is this clinic NOT for?
ASAD CLINIC may not be the right fit for families who are already satisfied with their child’s current treatment plan, are looking only for a quick second opinion, or are seeking a guaranteed cure or quick fix. We also may not be the right fit for families who want extensive testing or treatment without a careful medical reason. Our approach is detailed, thoughtful, and individualized. It requires time, records, discussion, and realistic expectations.
Do you take insurance?
No. ASAD CLINIC is currently a self-pay clinic. We do not bill insurance directly. Before scheduling, families will receive clear information about visit types, pricing, and what is included. This model allows us to offer a detailed record review, and a more personalized evaluation process than is often possible in a traditional insurance-based visit. .
What types of testing do you consider?
Testing is considered only when clinically appropriate. Depending on the child’s history and symptoms, this may include discussion of genetic, nutritional, metabolic, immune, inflammatory, gastrointestinal-related, or other medically relevant testing. Not every child needs extensive testing. Some tests may not be useful, validated, appropriate, or covered by insurance. Our goal is to avoid random testing and focus on what may actually help guide the next step. .
Do you evaluate leucovorin or folinic acid pathways?
Yes. Dr. Safi is familiar with leucovorin / folinic acid pathway evaluation and treatment discussions, including when pathway-related testing or a therapeutic trial may be clinically appropriate. This does not mean every child is a candidate. The decision depends on the child’s history, symptoms, prior testing, risk factors, and overall clinical picture. Families interested in this area can mention it when they email the clinic. .
Do you use IVIG?
IVIG may fall within Dr. Safi’s broader neuroimmune and inflammatory evaluation framework when clinically appropriate. That said, IVIG is not a general treatment for every child with autism, regression, or developmental concerns. It requires careful medical reasoning, review of symptoms, review of prior workup, discussion of risks and benefits, and consideration of whether the child’s history suggests a possible immune or inflammatory process. Families interested in neuroimmune evaluation can mention this when they contact the clinic. .
Can Dr. Safi help guide my child’s therapy team?
Yes, in select cases. Dr. Safi offers a separate consulting service designed to help families and therapy teams work from a shared developmental roadmap. This may include creating a cognitive blueprint that helps clarify where the child is now, what the next major cognitive or developmental milestone may be, and how parents, behavioral therapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, teachers, and tutors can work together more effectively. This service is separate from the standard medical visit. It is more involved, often requires participation from the child’s therapy or education team, and is arranged only after discussion with the family. To learn whether this service may be appropriate, please email ASAD CLINIC with a brief summary of your child’s current therapies, goals, and challenges.
Do you promise improvement?
No. We do not promise a cure for autism, regression, developmental disability, or complex neurologic symptoms. Our goal is to help families better understand what may be contributing to their child’s challenges, what remains uncertain, and what next steps may be reasonable. Sometimes testing changes the plan. Sometimes it does not. We will try to be clear about what is known, what is uncertain, and what is medically responsible.
